Everyday Predators

After reading all the increasing news coverage recently of all the awful predatory sexual assaults that have been going on behind closed doors for years and years, I thought I’d take up the task of running through a lot (not all) of the sexual innuendo or straight up assault I’ve experienced throughout my life.

It doesn’t hold a candle to the majority of the stories out there, I know, but it’s still grossly un-fucking-acceptable that this level of entitlement and hideous sexism happens so casually. AND. EVERY. FUCKING. DAY. It is exhausting. So very very exhausting.

Please feel free to share your stories, if you so desire. A quick note to say that commenting with “actually” or any kind of #notallmen won’t be tolerated here.

I’m being Catfished to death by Nev and Max. Not literally, but figuratively.

That’s very overly dramatic, I know. But I did say “figuratively”. On second thoughts, I do mean literally.

Twitter Fights (woo!)

So, while I was off in Japan having a lovely old time of it and checking in on Twitter back at the hotel (free wifi – so all the social media happened after being out all day or for brief stop overs before heading out again), I saw a news article RT’d about the rate of women who change their name after marriage with a comment stating that it was simply down to “internal misogyny”.

Ummm… I’m sorry but what did you just say?

Forever is a lie, the human condition only in place for a specified time period. Forever continues; lives and hearts do not.

At a point in time and space, it feels as though it will last for all eternity. The rose-coloured dream of its expanse makes it inconceivable that there was any other way of existing before this. This fleeting emotion that burns so high and bright, like starlight sweetly blazing inside your ribs radiating out little jolts of dopamine and madness in measured doses keeping your addiction going. Yes, it tells you, it can always be this way and you believe it given the crash hasn’t come yet and feels like it’s inevitability is a lie.

Unimaginable, then, that the object of your affection and desire could feel any less than the way you do, right here in this moment. The forever you believe in reflected back at you in them until the colour fades from their eyes, the light in their smile dims and bitter coarse words battering your ears like physical blows. The ones you can’t, won’t, don’t want to comprehend slowly sink like lead into the poisoned pit of your stomach.

Your forever comes crashing down around your feet as your heart sinks into and succumbs to the bitter poison, drowning. It’s only then, when the illusion shatters and crumbles and the colours bleed out of everything that you understand.

Forever is a lie.

Fleeting, certainly. The promise of eternity can never and will never be truly retained in our hearts. Hearts that will eventually fade to black and sink into a silent, loveless nothingness.

Sunday.

Supposed to be writing today. Yeah, blogging about bullshit = writing (and I recognise that these are lies, all lies).

Instead of doing that because I honestly cannot be arsed even when I’m supposed to be writing a little birthday something for someone, I’m delving into my J-Rock faves (mostly visual kei because prettyyyyyyy) with much abandon because fuck yeah, that’s what Sundays are bloody well for…

Side note: it’s also because I’m in utter denial that Les Revenants is finished and I’m sulking about it. But hooray, the internet is here to distract me! Woo!

So, Big Bang are in Melbourne this week and I’m jumping out of my skin for their show on Wednesday night!

Got great seats (I stood in Hong Kong in 2012 – never again, thanks!) and a good view. Will probably write a little post-concert sum’n sum’n when time permits.
