After a period of time apart due to work commitments with only text messages, face time, late night phone calls and Skype for company, Jiyong and Seunghyun are finally home – together again in Seoul, at the same time and there are no immediate plans for them to be anywhere else.
They both head straight from the airport to an agreed destination to reconnect over dinner and a few drinks. Seunghyun arrives first and finds a table for them. Jiyong arrives twenty minutes later and stops in his tracks when Seunghyun smiles at him. He slides into the booth beside him with a quiet, “Hey,” in greeting with a blinding smile that makes Seunghyun’s heart leap in his chest.
They sit as close as humanly possible connecting at ankle, thigh, elbow and shoulder. Their grinning faces are turned in opposing directions as heat and need flushes their skin. Their hearts pound and their pulses secretly mirror the others as they tap out staccato rhythms beneath their skin while they eat and chat idly about work.
As they aimlessly discuss all things 9-to-5 (or 7-to-9 all told), hidden just behind the façade of their words, their minds drift toward exactly how they’re going to spend the rest of tonight – blessedly tangled in each other. The same could be said of any number of the halcyon days and nights that were bound to follow and it makes their pulses quicken.
After dinner, they take a leisurely stroll along the Han River linking their fingers together once they are satisfied they are far out of sight of anyone else. The autumn breeze swirls around them, pulling at their coats and their hair causing leaves from the trees above them to fall in a delicate cascade at their feet. Seunghyun finds a secluded spot and leans against a small bollard pulling Jiyong in close.
“I’ve missed you so much, Ji,” Seunghyun says, earnest and heartfelt.
His long, slender fingers grip Jiyong’s waist making his smaller frame curve and bend into him. Jiyong smiles as he slips his arms around Seunghyun’s neck linking his fingers together.
“Guess what? I missed you too, baby.”
Seunghyun smiles and looks into his eyes. He loves the way Jiyong’s eyes crease at the corners when he smiles at him like this. The love he feels for Jiyong is reflected there and it swells in his chest as Jiyong leans in to kiss him making the long weeks apart liquefy into pallid memory. Seunghyun melts into Jiyong’s sweetly languorous kiss. It tastes of them here and now, of tonight, of their wildly entangled tomorrows and of everything they’ve been missing.
Seunghyun gently breaks their kiss and leans his head against Jiyong’s. He licks his lips and casts a cautious glance around them before returning his attention to Jiyong.
“Take me home,” he murmurs low against Jiyong’s lips.
Jiyong closes his eyes and shivers. He nods and grabs his hand racing them towards the nearest street and hails a cab. They fall into a comfortable silence in the back of the cab, their fingers inching closer together across the back seat out of the driver’s sight as they both keep their gaze on the lights of the city from their side of the cab.
Both men smile as they watch the lights of the city whiz by, neither chancing a glance at the other, too lost in thoughts of what they were racing towards. Tonight, they’ll reunite in every way imaginable and possibly in some not yet discovered. They know that in a short while, they’ll be spending the remainder of the night locked in passionate embraces, making love for hours until their bodies are strained and numb and incapable…
… and neither can wait.
